FirstEnergy Ohio filing outlines about $4 to $5 monthly bill increases

FirstEnergy’s Ohio electric companies plan to file a Three-Year Rate Plan (TYRP) by May 22, 2026, proposing an average of $800 million annually for grid upgrades and $83 million for tree trimming. This forward-looking plan aims to improve reliability and make bill changes more predictable, introducing estimated residential distribution bill increases of 2.2-2.8%, equating to approximately $4-$5 per month. The plan focuses solely on distribution charges, not electricity supply costs.
