U.S. media: The U.S. beforehand issued a notice to Iran about the escort operation and warned Iran not to interfere

BlockBeats News, May 5th, according to AXIOS reports, a U.S. official and an informed source revealed that a senior official in the Trump administration informed Iran on Sunday about the upcoming U.S. “guidance” of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and warned Tehran not to intervene.

This private communication indicates that the White House aims to try to reduce the risk of potential escalation. But despite the warning, Iran has continued a series of attacks on U.S. Navy vessels, commercial ships, and the United Arab Emirates. On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Cain downplayed Iran’s attacks, claiming that the ceasefire agreement remains in effect.

Nevertheless, some U.S. and Israeli officials believe that if the diplomatic deadlock persists, President Trump may order a resumption of hostilities later this week.
