Regulatory requirements: Complete the rectification of issues related to online marketing of financial products by the end of September
To standardize online marketing activities for financial products, the People’s Bank of China and seven other departments recently issued the “Measures for the Administration of Online Marketing of Financial Products,” which will take effect from September 30, 2026. Regulatory authorities require that before September 30, financial institutions and third-party internet platforms should proactively accelerate rectification and cleanup of marketing content and behaviors that do not comply with the “Measures.” The eight departments will perform their duties according to the law, coordinate to supervise and guide financial institutions and third-party internet platforms to implement the “Measures,” and investigate all kinds of illegal and irregular online marketing activities of financial products.
