Claude Code called Codex actually has three paths:
- Bash open codex exec: used by default, but has a 10-minute timeout, exits if exceeded
- Bash background: runs in the background, can run 2-3 in parallel simultaneously, just check at the end
- MCP: requires authorization, similar to bash background, but with caching, suitable for continuous tasks
