Iran Challenges US Military and Says Project Freedom Is Stalled

The Iranian government responded to changes in the rules of engagement for U.S. forces in the Middle East with an open challenge on Tuesday (5/5) local time. Through the embassy in South Africa, Iran posted a provocative message, "Come closer, we are ready." This statement came as a reaction to the new Pentagon policy that grants offensive action flexibility for the U.S. military fleet around the Strait of Hormuz.
On the other hand, Iran's Foreign Minister warned that the current political crisis will not find a solution if forced to be resolved through military means. He labeled the U.S.-formed Project Freedom mission as a deadlock situation or "Project Deadlock." In his statement, he urged the United States and the UAE not to be dragged back into a prolonged conflict that risks turning into a swamp for regional stability.
As an alternative step, Iran highlighted progress in ongoing diplomatic talks. These efforts are being mediated by Pakistan to de-escalate armed tensions in the vital region.
