Anthropic Allegedly Preparing an Active Assistant, Orbit: Integrating Gmail, Slack, GitHub, and Other Six Major Tools

According to Beating Monitoring, community users discovered a new feature called Orbit on Anthropic’s latest web and mobile platforms. Based on the code description, Orbit is an active briefing and insight system that spans Claude and Claude Code, using a user-initiated (opt-in) mechanism, capable of sensing the user’s time zone, and automatically generating personalized briefings from connected work tools. Currently, the connected plugins include Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Calendar, Drive, and Figma.

Orbit currently appears only as a toggle switch in the settings panel, representing a typical gray release stage before official launch. Anthropic’s developer conference, Code with Claude, will be held on May 6 in San Francisco. It is still uncertain whether Orbit will be officially unveiled at the event. Last September, OpenAI launched a similar active asynchronous assistant called ChatGPT Pulse first. Google Gemini and Perplexity are also preparing similar features, and active briefings are becoming a standard capability of AI assistants. Orbit’s differentiation lies in its explicit integration with GitHub and Figma, targeting developers and designers rather than general office workers.
