According to monitoring by Beating, OpenAI’s Senior Sales Head James Dyett has announced his departure to join venture capital firm Thrive Capital as an ‘Operator in Residence.’ This marks the latest personnel change at OpenAI following the recent exits of several executives from its product, marketing, and research departments. Dyett joined OpenAI during the surge of ChatGPT in 2023 and has been responsible for the company’s enterprise sales and API sales. He explained in a post on the X platform that his departure is due to a desire to be part of the early stages of company building, believing that OpenAI’s current business status is already very strong. At Thrive, he will provide experiential support to founders of startups. Thrive Capital has been a long-time supporter of OpenAI, and its founder Joshua Kushner is close friends with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
