Golden Finance reports that on May 5th, U.S. intelligence assessments show that after two months of ongoing conflict and multiple strikes, the time Iran needs to develop nuclear weapons has “basically not changed.” Sources familiar with the matter say that last year, the U.S. and Israel’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities had pushed its nuclear timeline “back to about 9 months to 1 year,” but the latest assessment believes that a new round of military actions since February 28 of this year has not further substantially weakened Iran’s nuclear capabilities. The report states that the current U.S.-Israel military focus is mainly on Iran’s conventional military capabilities, leadership, and defense industrial system, rather than systematically destroying nuclear facilities. This is also an important reason why the progress of the nuclear program has not been significantly delayed. Intelligence officials point out that to truly stop Iran’s nuclear program, the key is to address its existing stockpile of highly enriched uranium. (CCTV News)
