Gold Finance reports that on May 5th, U.S. President Trump threatened during an interview with Fox News Channel on the 4th that if Iran fires on U.S. ships near the Persian Gulf or the Strait of Hormuz, it will be “erased from the surface of the Earth.” When asked about the readiness of the U.S. military, Trump said that there are currently only two options: either Iran sincerely reaches an agreement, or the U.S. will ultimately have to restart military actions. He stated that the U.S. military’s readiness is being actively prepared, with all bases fully stocked with supplies, and the U.S. military can mobilize and utilize these resources at any time. When asked about the possibility of negotiations with Iran and achieving success, Trump said that compared to the past, Iran’s attitude has become more softened, and under U.S. blockade and continued pressure on Iranian ports, Iran has “shown some flexibility.” (Xinhua News Agency)
