Trump Claims Iran Attacked Cargo Ship, Urges South Korea to Join Project Freedom
Donald Trump via Truth Social stated that Iran has launched an attack on several ships involved in the Project Freedom operation, including a South Korean cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. In his official statement, Trump called for South Korea to immediately join the military mission led by the United States to secure international trade routes.
In his claim, Trump said U.S. forces successfully disabled seven Iranian fast boats believed to threaten regional stability. Although there was armed skirmishing, he emphasized that so far there has been no additional damage to other ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, aside from the incident involving the South Korean cargo ship.
The situation in this vital logistics route is predicted to impact crypto market sentiment and global commodities if escalation continues to rise. In response to these developments, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Caine are scheduled to hold an official press conference on Tuesday morning (5/5) local time to provide further details on U.S. military operations in the region.
