The White House is briefly locked down due to a nearby shooting.

Golden Finance reported that on May 5, the U.S. White House temporarily went into lockdown on the afternoon of May 4 local time due to a shooting incident nearby. The U.S. Secret Service said in a statement, “Secret Service personnel have arrived at the scene of a police-involved shooting at the intersection of 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. One person has been shot by law enforcement, and the specific details are not yet clear.” It is understood that the incident site is only about one mile from the White House, near the Washington Monument. According to U.S. media reporters at the White House who said via social media, U.S. President Trump was at the time inside the White House for a meeting and was not affected by the shooting. But just a few minutes before Trump arrived at the East Room to attend the event, when gunshots were heard, the Secret Service urgently ordered media personnel to leave the White House North Lawn and enter the press briefing room.
