You have probably noticed that Elon Musk's tweets can move crypto markets within minutes. The guy has literally become the Dogefather, and it's no coincidence. But concretely, which cryptocurrencies does Elon Musk really hold in his portfolio? That's a question many are asking.
Let's start with Bitcoin. In 2021, Tesla announced a massive investment of $1.5 billion in BTC, marking a turning point for institutional adoption. Although Tesla has sold a large part of its holdings since then, Musk confirmed that he personally keeps Bitcoin. Logical: Bitcoin is digital gold, the ultimate store of value. Currently around $79,940, Bitcoin remains dominant with its unmatched market capitalization.
Next, there's Ethereum. Musk revealed at The Word conference in 2021 that he also owns ETH. Why? Smart contracts, DeFi, NFTs—all blockchain innovation runs through Ethereum. It's the infrastructure of next-generation cryptocurrency. At $2,350 currently, Ethereum remains the second-largest cryptocurrency for a reason.
But Musk's true love is clearly Dogecoin. He doesn't hide it. Between tweets about the people's crypto, integration with Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has completely transformed DOGE. The funny thing is, Musk loves his meme origins, but he sincerely believes in its potential as a means of payment thanks to ultra-low fees and its very active community. Dogecoin is currently trading around $0.11 with a 1.34% increase over 24 hours.
After that, things become more blurry. Musk denied owning Shiba Inu, but his tweets about Floki and other dog-themed coins cause massive market movements. Shiba Inu hovers around $0.00, while Floki Inu, named after Musk's Shiba Inu dog, remains a speculative coin with no concrete proof of ownership.
What’s interesting about Elon Musk and cryptocurrency is that his influence far exceeds his actual holdings. A simple tweet can create massive waves. But his confirmed positions in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin show a thoughtful strategy: store of value, technological innovation, and an alternative vision of money. If you follow these movements on Gate, you'll see how cryptocurrency evolves in real time according to these dynamics.
