Today I was digging through drawers looking for a charger and suddenly thought about modular blockchains— for ordinary people, it might be like changing the charging port from "dedicated" to "just plug in whatever works." Basically, you don't necessarily care if it's split into execution/data/settlement or whatever, you just want: transfers that don't get stuck, fees that aren't wildly fluctuating, and cross-app transfers that don't feel like moving house with a bunch of keys. If done well, users will perceive it as "how did it suddenly become smoother," but if not... it just adds another layer of bridge, another signature popup, and after the rain, it turns into a torrential downpour.

Recently, the airdrop season task platforms' anti-witching measures also seem quite similar—point systems turning crypto grinders into clock-in workers. If modularization just ends up making us go through more steps, that’s pretty awkward. Anyway, right now, looking at on-chain activity, what I care about most is: don’t make me switch three cables just to charge my phone.
