I saw a report on global living costs and I have to say, the most expensive city in the world remains Zurich, Switzerland, with an index of 112.5. Practically 12.5% more expensive than New York. But what surprised me is that the top six most expensive cities are all Swiss—Geneva, Basel, Lausanne, Lugano, and Bern complete the Swiss dominance. In the USA, New York is the benchmark at 100 points, while San Francisco and Honolulu follow with very high costs related to tech demand and lifestyle. Singapore and Tel Aviv also appear among the most expensive in Asia. Switzerland clearly has a very high standard of living, but also salaries that compensate— in Zurich, they earn between 7,000 and 9,000 Swiss francs per month. Interestingly, the most expensive city in the world remains in Europe, while American metropolises rank well in the list. If you think living in New York is expensive, Zurich would make you reconsider everything.
