UAE issues missile warning, escalating tensions threaten US-Iran ceasefire

Golden Finance reported that on May 4, Monday, the United Arab Emirates issued its first missile-threat warning since the ceasefire between the United States and Iran about a month ago, highlighting the fragility of diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war. Hours after an oil tanker operated by ADNOC, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, was attacked by Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz, the alert was issued. Before the war broke out in late February, about one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz. It is currently unclear whether the warning was triggered by an incident targeting the UAE or whether it was related to an escalation of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
