As of April 2026, the U.S. government holds approximately 328k BTC, with a market value of about $25 billion, making it the largest national holder in the world.
Among them, about 200k BTC have been officially allocated to the strategic reserve, with the remaining still undergoing legal integration processes.
All Bitcoins are law enforcement seizures (dark web, scams, hacking cases), with no taxpayer money spent.
The principle is permanent locking, only in and not out; all future confiscated BTC will be added to the reserve.
Congress is also pushing forward legislation, planning to increase holdings to 1 million BTC within 5 years, with a long-term holding period of over 20 years.
In short: the U.S. holds 328k BTC, with 200k locked, aiming for one million, a national-level hoard, only in and not out!
