I noticed something interesting while scrolling through on-chain data this morning. The address 1a1zp1ep5qgefi2dmptftl5slmv7divfna is probably one of the most famous on the Bitcoin network. It is actually Satoshi Nakamoto's historic wallet, the one containing the 50 BTC from the Genesis block.
What’s fascinating is that these bitcoins have never been spent. The current balance shows 99.67791953 BTC, worth approximately $4,368,284. These coins remain frozen in time, like a time capsule from the era when Bitcoin was just born. Many people believe that Satoshi intentionally left these funds untouched to prove there was no favoritism in the initial distribution.
Whenever I see this address in the data, it reminds me of the early days of all this. It’s a bit like visiting a historic site on the blockchain.
