I took a look at the latest list of the richest people in the world and something interesting caught my eye - technology completely dominates the top. The top positions are held by Elon Musk with 444 billion, Jeff Bezos with 244 billion, and Mark Zuckerberg with 207 billion. It’s quite clear that the tech sector is the most profitable at the moment.
What surprised me is how concentrated wealth is - only the top 10 people in the world have a combined wealth of over 1.6 trillion. If you look further down the list, you also find founders from other fields: retail, finance, industry. But if you consider only the top 100 richest people in the world, over 60% come from sectors related to technology, e-commerce, or finance.
It’s also interesting to note the presence of figures from Asia - Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Zhong Shanshan. So globalization and economic development in Asia are really changing the landscape of global wealth. It seems that being on the list of the richest people in the world is no longer strictly an American thing.
