North Korean media criticize Japan's offerings and visits to Yasukuni Shrine

Recently, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi offered offerings and paid for rituals at Yasukuni Shrine, which enshrines Class A war criminals from World War II, and a large number of Japanese politicians collectively visited Yasukuni Shrine. In response, the North Korean Workers’ Party Central Committee’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, and the Korean Central News Agency published articles to criticize this. An article titled “The Farce of Militarist Worship” states that Japan, on one hand, continues to spread militarist toxins throughout society by visiting Yasukuni Shrine; on the other hand, it distorts history and dismantles legal shackles that restrict the militarization of wartime nations, while recklessly expanding its military and strengthening its armed forces. Japan should abandon unrealistic illusions, deeply reflect on its sinful invasion past, and follow the path of self-improvement and peaceful development. The article “Calling on the Dead Souls of Yasukuni Shrine: A New Type of Militarist Fanaticism” indicates that the disgraceful behavior of these new militarist fanatics calling on the spirits of Yasukuni Shrine undoubtedly exposes their expansionist ambitions to revive past invasion and warfare practices, which is a blatant challenge to the international community’s pursuit of peace and stability.
