According to foreign media reports on the 4th, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bagheri commented on the United Arab Emirates’ withdrawal from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), stating that this move is a negative reaction to regional developments and is not constructive. Reuters on the 4th quoted Bagheri as saying, “Any withdrawal behavior that treats member countries with negativity or retaliation is not constructive.” Bagheri stated that Iran will continue to fulfill its obligations within OPEC, and that the UAE’s assistance to Israel and the United States in the war against Iran demonstrates “inappropriate behavior.” On April 28th, the UAE announced that it would withdraw from OPEC and “OPEC+” starting May 1st. At the same time, the Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries Organization issued a statement on May 3rd confirming that the UAE has officially exited the organization. “OPEC+” is a cooperation organization composed of OPEC member countries and non-OPEC oil-producing countries such as Russia, with the top four producers being Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, and the UAE. As one of the world’s major oil producers, the UAE’s “withdrawal” has attracted widespread public attention, and analysts believe this move will have a significant impact on energy market supply.
