So, what are Ukrainian women really like? Everyone told me I was crazy to go alone, that men who go there never come back. Just usual exaggerations. Anyway, I went, driven by an incurable travel curiosity. I land at Kyiv airport and immediately understand what they’re talking about: the police officer at the checkpoint is a living sculpture, 175 centimeters of blonde hair and blue eyes. On the subway? Almost all of them could be models. Figure, perfect makeup, elegance in their movements. Nothing exaggerated. But then I try to talk to a girl in the square and she responds curtly: don’t you know how to use Google Maps? End of story. I immediately understood: here women are independent, educated, speak three languages, have their own plans. They’re not interested in casual approaches, especially from foreigners. A local explained to me that they’ve been harassed since they were little, so they’re distrustful. Beauty exists, it’s real, but what really strikes you is something else. After ten days, I understood why they say you’re afraid you won’t come back. It’s not for the beautiful women, it’s for the unique charm of the place. Ukraine is contradictory: it has the classicism of Eastern Europe and modern vitality, Slavic warmth and European elegance, incredible landscapes and a deep history. The girls are beautiful, yes, but the soul of the country is what stays with you. If you’re thinking of going, forget the stereotype of the ‘land of beautiful women’ and open yourself to diversity. You’ll see that, like me, you’ll fall in love with this place.
