Recently, I needed to register some overseas accounts for testing, and I found that the SMS verification platform is really a lifesaver. Instead of spending money on new SIM cards, using virtual numbers is more convenient, as it can protect privacy and allow quick verification. I’ve encountered many pitfalls before, such as not receiving the verification code or delays of half a day, but later I found a few relatively stable SMS verification platforms.
The most smooth ones I’ve used are SMS-Activate and 5SIM; both platforms deliver verification codes quite quickly, usually within about 10 seconds, and cover many countries. If you're mainly testing applications in China, Super Cloud SMS and XiaoNiao SMS perform well too; US numbers typically receive codes in 10-30 seconds, while Chinese numbers can get them in 5-20 seconds. Getsmscode is inexpensive and suitable for light use, but sometimes verification codes from less popular platforms can be delayed.
When using SMS verification platforms, the most important points are: shared numbers are prone to risk control, so if you don’t receive the code, just switch to another number; don’t use virtual numbers as your long-term primary number, as privacy and security are not guaranteed; if you need stable registration on a specific website, it’s best to prepare several backup numbers. Some platforms support API integration, which is especially convenient for batch testing. Another tip is to choose platforms that support "one-click number switching" to avoid wasting time.
Honestly, choosing an SMS verification platform mainly depends on your purpose. For pure API testing, any platform that supports API is enough; but if you want stable registration on overseas websites, it’s recommended to top up multiple numbers so you can switch immediately if one becomes invalid. This way, you’ll generally avoid pitfalls.
