Interesting: How the wealth of U.S. Presidents has changed during their time in office. Some became richer, others lost significant amounts.
There are real contrasts here. Washington started with 2 million and ended with 2.5 million – relatively stable. But Jefferson? The man had 3 million, but left office with only 200,000. A drastic drop.
With modern presidents, different patterns can be seen. Kennedy entered with a billion and left with a billion – large fortunes change less in percentage terms. Barack Obama's wealth was about 1.3 million at the start of his term, but has grown to around 70 million. Clinton similarly: from 1.3 million to 80 million.
Interesting is also Trump – 3 billion at the beginning, 2.5 billion at the end. So, a decline as well, but on a completely different scale.
The historical presidents like Lincoln or Grant? Remained relatively poor. The wealth-building game apparently only became truly lucrative in more recent times.
