Someone asked me whether I should use the mainnet or Layer2. To be honest, I don’t have a standard answer either—I can only choose based on “don’t wear yourself out.” Mainnet gas is really expensive, but sometimes that sense of certainty is worth it, especially for assets you plan to hold long-term, or if you don’t want to get rattled by cross-chain/bridge transfers back and forth. Layer2 feels genuinely smoother—you can confirm with two taps, and your mood gets a little gentler—but I’ll try to move around as little as possible. I’d rather pick one or two that feel convenient for me and get familiar with the ecosystem bit by bit.
Lately, I’ve been seeing everyone arguing pretty fiercely over TPS, fees, and subsidies… I, on the other hand, care more about: whether the wallet prompts are clear; whether failures end up charging you for nothing; and whether, if something goes wrong, there’s someone who explains it seriously. In any case, my compromise right now is: small, frequent transactions on L2, and the important ones slowly moved back to the mainnet. If I can reduce operations, I’ll reduce them—so I can sleep more soundly.
