I just reviewed an interesting ranking of the 20 most important currencies in the world, and there are some data points that surprised me. Most people think that the US dollar is number one, but it actually ranks ninth in this list.
The currencies at the top of the list are quite unexpected. The Kuwaiti dinar is in first place, followed by the Bahraini dinar and the Omani rial. Then come the British pound, the Cayman Islands dollar, and the Swiss franc. It's interesting to see how the Canadian dollar, the Singapore dollar, and the Brunei dollar occupy such high positions in this ranking of the 20 most important currencies in the world.
Looking further down, we find the US dollar in ninth place, the Swiss franc in eighth, and then the euro in seventh. The Australian dollar, the New Zealand dollar, and the Brazilian real are also on this list of the 20 most important currencies in the world, although in lower positions. It’s definitely a ranking that challenges what many of us assume about the value of global currencies.
