I noticed something interesting while analyzing recent economic data. Many people rank African countries based on GDP and existing infrastructure, but they overlook a crucial detail.

Of course, if we look at raw numbers, the most developed countries in Africa remain the same: South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco, and Kenya clearly lead. Their economies are more diversified, their infrastructure more established, and their institutional stability more visible.

But here’s the thing many miss. The traditional ranking of the most developed country in Africa doesn’t tell us what will really matter in the next 10 years.

The next African power won’t be the one with the largest GDP today. It will be the one that controls the three levers of the future: technology, energy, and financial innovation. The country that understands this now and invests in it will have years of advantage.

Africa isn’t behind; it’s just that we’re not looking far enough ahead. It’s in full construction, and those who see this clearly today will ride the wave tomorrow.

I’m curious to know which country you would bet on for the next ten years. Which one has the potential to really take off, in your opinion?
