Remember that mystery that never leaves our minds? Satoshi Nakamoto's fortune remains one of the biggest enigmas in the crypto world. I think about it often, especially when I see market movements.

For those who don't know, Satoshi is the inventor of Bitcoin, and it is believed that he mined about 1.1 million BTC in the early days, between 2009 and 2010, when the network was still virtually unknown. This accounts for approximately 5.2% of all existing Bitcoin supply.

Now, here’s what’s really interesting about Satoshi Nakamoto’s fortune. With Bitcoin’s price around $80,270 currently (May 4, 2026), this wallet would be worth approximately 88 billion dollars. Think about that for a second. That would place Satoshi among the wealthiest people on the planet, in a very high position indeed.

But there’s one detail that makes everything even more intriguing. None of these Bitcoins have been moved in over a decade. Seriously. Not a single transaction. It’s as if Satoshi Nakamoto’s fortune has been frozen in time, fueling all kinds of speculation about whether he still has access to these funds or if he simply disappeared.

What intrigues me most is that this mystery only reinforces Bitcoin’s decentralized nature. The creator disappeared, but the project continues. The network keeps functioning independently. It’s almost poetic, if you stop to think about it.
