It's that time of year again—things you keep saying "I'll do it at the end of the year" that end up screwing you over: transaction records... I used to be really casual about it, and as a result, looking through chat logs for screenshots felt like archaeology. Now I've at least developed the habit: every time I switch chains / cross bridges / participate in airdrops, I immediately export the exchange data + on-chain transaction hash and keep a copy, casually noting what it's for. Yesterday, I even found a 0x7c3…e91 on Arbitrum, with a note saying "Slipped and swapped a crappy meme coin in the middle of the night," which made me laugh but at least helps with reconciliation.
By the way, watching Layer 2s compare TPS, fees, and subsidies every day, they all talk big, but when it comes to tax reporting / declarations, the bills that come out are all fragmented small amounts. I don't know who’s cheaper, but I’m pretty sure who’s more frustrating... Anyway, I’ll gather CSV files, screenshots, and transaction notes first, so I don’t wait until my emotional indicators point me to the "collapse zone."
