On May 2, according to CCTV Finance, Tesla disclosed in a regulatory filing on April 30 that Musk’s total compensation for 2025 is $158.36 billion, which is 2.5 million times the median salary of the company’s regular employees. Despite this astonishing figure, the company also provided several important clarifications. Tesla stated in the filing that there could be a ‘huge discrepancy’ between the total compensation amount publicly disclosed each year and its actual value received. Since Tesla did not meet any market capitalization or operational assessment targets last year, Musk’s actual compensation for that year was zero.
