Just woke up and checked the on-chain data, and it lagged again, almost thought I was seeing things… Actually, many times it’s not that “the chain isn’t moving,” but that the layer you’re viewing is struggling. Subgraph/indexers need to first fetch the blocks and then organize them into a queryable format. When they encounter node RPC rate limits, reorganization, or if the indexer hasn’t caught up to the latest height, delays like “a large transfer just happened but only shows up after a few minutes” can occur. Then the comment section starts interpreting the movement of exchange hot and cold wallets as “smart money,” which is hilarious. I myself keep an eye on funding rates and placing orders; data being a few seconds late can really mess with my mindset… Anyway, whenever I see lag, I just switch RPCs or check two or three sources to compare, don’t rush to fill in the plot.
