A16z Backs CFTC Against State Prediction Market Curbs

Andreessen Horowitz submitted an 18-page letter to the CFTC on May 2 backing federal oversight of prediction markets and opposing state restrictions. The firm said state cease-and-desist orders and proposed bans could force platforms to block users by state and reduce liquidity. The dispute centers on whether platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket fall under federal swaps oversight or state gambling rules.
