I noticed an interesting trend – at the beginning of this year, something unprecedented happened with the distribution of global wealth. The fortunes of the world's richest people increased by hundreds of billions, and this is clearly no coincidence.
Elon Musk is now far ahead of everyone with a fortune of about $726 billion. Honestly, these are just crazy numbers – no one in modern history has had such a level of personal wealth. His growth is linked to the rise of SpaceX, the expansion of Starlink, the growth of Tesla, and his influence in AI and neurotechnology. The guy literally redefined what it means to be the richest person in the world.
Next come the tech giants. Larry Page, co-founder of Google, in second place with $270 billion – Alphabet dominates in AI. Jeff Bezos is third with $255 billion, supported by AWS and Amazon's logistics networks.
The list looks like this: Sergey Brin ($251 billion), Larry Ellison ($248 billion), Mark Zuckerberg ($233 billion), Bernard Arnault ($205 billion), Steve Ballmer ($170 billion), Jensen Huang ($156 billion), and Warren Buffett ($151 billion).
What drives this? Primarily – the explosion in artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Plus, space technologies and semiconductors are growing like crazy. The US dominates technologically, and those who entered these industries early and held stocks are now sitting on fantastic sums.
This shows that the world's richest person is now defined not just by capital, but by influence on future technologies. AI, space, neurotech – these are where real wealth is concentrated in 2026.
