I set a rule for myself: if I can finish the job on L2, I won't force it onto the mainnet. Saving that bit of gas is actually more about saving my mood; but once I need cross-chain or bridging, I immediately dismiss the word "cheap," preferring to spend a bit more to choose a route I understand, one where someone will follow through even if something goes wrong. Recently, L2s have been arguing about TPS, fees, and subsidies, and it's been quite lively. To be honest, the most critical concern for ordinary users is "where do I put my money, and who’s responsible if something goes wrong." Anyway, my current approach is: for daily small transactions, I use L2; for large or critical operations, I go back to the mainnet. I accept it being slower and more expensive—at least I can sleep well.
