Just now, I got that itch again and wanted to chase a position—the mouse was almost clicking down. Suddenly, I asked myself: Is this position “what I know,” or “what I’m afraid of missing”? Put plainly, information can be reviewed and rebuilt, but emotions only keep getting bigger; in the end, even the priority fee ends up being treated as money for buying tickets… People like me with an impatient temper are the most likely to fall for it.
Recently, hardware wallets have all been out of stock, and there are tons of phishing links flying around. This shows that everyone actually knows the risk is right there in front of them—but when prices start rising, safety and rationality get squeezed to the back of the line. My solution is just a quick “patch”: if I want to add to my position, I pause for 30 seconds first, check on-chain to see whether it’s the same wave of addresses lifting, and then re-check the approvals and links as well. Small fixes and patches first—don’t treat emotions as a strategy.
