Galaxy Digital Research Director Alex Thorne announced that the Bitcoin community is gradually reaching a primary consensus on the quantum threat.

Most discussion participants believe that interfering with assets on Satoshi Nakamoto's P2PK addresses is unacceptable — it would violate the fundamental principle of ownership rights in the network. Nakamoto's assets are distributed across approximately 22,000 addresses with 50 $BTC each, which reduces the actual risk of a full-scale attack below commonly accepted estimates.

Paradigm researcher Dan Robinson proposed the PACT (Provable Address-Control Timestamps) mechanism — provable address control timestamps. The wallet owner records the fact of control over it in advance, without revealing any additional information publicly. The approach is primarily aimed at inactive wallets, including coins from Nakamoto's era.
