Ethereum Foundation: Key Goals of Glamsterdam Upgrade Nearly Achieved, Consensus Reached on 200 Million Gas Limit Minimum
On May 4, the Ethereum Foundation published a summary of the Soldøgn Interop work, stating that the key goals of the Glamsterdam upgrade have been largely achieved. This includes reaching a consensus on the 200 million Gas Limit minimum after the upgrade, ensuring stable operation of the ePBS external Builder process, and finalizing the EIP-8037 Gas repricing parameters. The focus of the Glamsterdam upgrade is to enhance security by raising the Gas Limit to expand Ethereum’s throughput capacity, while EIP-8037 aims to prevent state bloat caused by high Gas Limits by increasing the cost of state creation. The Ethereum Foundation also noted that most clients have completed stable operation on glamsterdam-devnet-2 and successfully tested the entire external Builder process. Additionally, substantial progress has been made on FOCIL, native account abstraction, and functionalities related to the Hegotá upgrade. In the coming weeks, core developers will continue to advance client hardening, testing, and code merging, with final parameters to be publicly confirmed at the AllCoreDevs meeting.
