On April 28, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the launch of the ‘Rock 100’ model system, which aims to advance AI-driven scientific research from fragmented individual explorations to a collaborative and efficient platform for innovation. This system will provide intelligent support for cutting-edge scientific research across various fields. The ‘Rock 100’ model system is based on the ‘Rock: Scientific Foundation Large Model’ and is supported by specialized models from different disciplines. Additionally, it has developed segmented application models and intelligent tools tailored for specific research scenarios. Together, this comprehensive system forms a wide-ranging and efficient intelligent research service platform. Currently, the Rock model system has been implemented in over fifty research institutions within the Chinese Academy of Sciences, serving frontline scientific work in numerous areas such as astronomical observation, Qinghai-Tibet scientific expeditions, marine forecasting, and ecological research.
