Just scrolled through Elon Musk's net worth trajectory and the growth curve is absolutely insane. Started from basically nothing back in 2010 when his net worth was just around 0.3 billion, and now we're looking at projections hitting 830 billion by 2026. That's a 2700x increase in 16 years.
What's wild is how the acceleration happened. The early 2010s were steady but slow - took until 2015 to hit 13 billion. Then Tesla stock really took off and things got exponential. By 2020 he was at 30 billion, but 2021 was the absolute inflection point when it jumped to 300 billion. That's when Tesla became a mega cap and crypto narratives were everywhere.
The volatility is interesting too. 2022 dropped to 140 billion (Twitter acquisition and Tesla selloff), bounced back to 220 billion in 2023. Now we're looking at these projections for 2025-2026 hitting 600-830 billion range, which honestly seems tied to AI hype and SpaceX valuations. Whether those numbers actually materialize is another question, but the overall trajectory from 2010 onwards shows what happens when you're deeply invested in companies that capture massive secular trends.
