It's interesting to see how many bitcoins Elon Musk has through his companies. Tesla and SpaceX together hold more than 19,700 BTC, which at the current price of about $78,700 per coin amounts to approximately $1.55 billion. Both companies started investing in Bitcoin back in early 2021, when the price was much lower.
Tesla owns 11,509 BTC from the times when they bought them at $33,500 each. Now, this looks like a great decision — the profit on the position is over 220%. SpaceX holds 8,285 BTC. If these holdings were previously valued at $900 million and $1.25 billion respectively, the figures now look quite different.
But here’s the funny part — how many bitcoins does Elon Musk have through his companies? It’s not the largest corporate holding in the world. Tesla ranks eighth among public companies. MicroStrategy holds nearly 600,000 BTC, MARA Holdings about 50,000. Even Riot Platforms, Galaxy Digital, and CleanSpark own larger amounts. It turns out that how many bitcoins Elon Musk has is an interesting question, but not the biggest holding on the market. Coinbase, by the way, is also in the top 10 with nearly 9,300 BTC.
