Wow, I just can't pass up this story. Ross Ulbricht, the guy who created Silk Road, recently re-entered the public eye after Trump's pardon, and what he's doing now is quite interesting to watch.

His first serious move after prison was speaking at Bitcoin 2025, where he talked about freedom, decentralization, and that cryptocurrency has not yet achieved its goals. The speech was emotional, he thanked the community for their support during his incarceration. But something curious happened before that.

Ulbricht held an auction of his personal belongings through the Scarce City platform — prison IDs, clothing, paintings, recordings. It sounds strange, but people bought these for serious money. Only three prison IDs sold for 7.5 BTC, which was about $780,000 at the time. Plus notebooks, sneakers, a tracksuit — in total, he raised over $1.3 million in Bitcoin. He explained that he's leaving Arizona and wants to leave this period behind, so he's selling reminders of prison.

What’s even more impressive — a few days after his conference speech, Ross Ulbricht received an anonymous donation of 300 BTC, approximately $31.4 million. This is one of the largest single Bitcoin donations in the past year. The Lookonchain platform tracked it, and the news spread through the community.

It's interesting how the crypto community perceived his return. People see him as a symbol of the fight for financial freedom, despite his controversial past. At the conference, he said that the fight for freedom is far from over, and that it should be at the core of the cryptocurrency movement. Such a twist in the story of the crypto world.
