Hey, I just realized that many people don’t understand what 1k really means when they see large numbers on social media or in crypto.

So here’s my quick explanation.

Let’s start with the basics. The K comes from “kilo” and simply means a thousand.
So 1K is 1k. If you see 10K, that’s 10k.
100K is 100k. It’s that simple.

Now, when people talk about millions, they use the M.
One million is 1k,000 (basically a thousand thousands, right?).
So 5M would be 5 million and 10M would be 10 million.
The interesting part is that you see these numbers all the time on YouTube when they talk about views, in crypto when they mention market cap, in freelance salaries.

And then there’s the billion (or billion in English).
That’s much larger: 1M,000.
Yes, a billion.
When you see Bitcoin has a market cap of several billion, now you understand how huge that number is.

Look, understanding this is important if you work online or are involved in crypto.
It’s not the same if someone earns 10K a month versus 1M.
And if you’re looking at projects or investments, you need to know the difference between millions and billions so you don’t get confused.

That’s why I recommend you keep this reference: K is a thousand, M is a million, B is a billion.
So next time you see these numbers anywhere, you’ll know exactly what they mean.
And if you’re exploring opportunities in crypto, you can check out some projects like WCT, PNUT, or MASK on Gate to see how these numbers move in real time.
WCT-0.42%
PNUT-3.14%
MASK-1.42%
