CATL announces that sodium-ion batteries will achieve mass production in the fourth quarter of this year.
Sodium-ion batteries have a lower cost baseline, with sodium carbonate prices only a few tenths of lithium carbonate, ensuring ample and stable supply;
they do not rely on lithium/cobalt, with cathodes free of lithium and cobalt, completely bypassing the two major strategic resource bottlenecks;
wide temperature range safety, operating temperature from -50°C to +80°C, with low-temperature performance far superior to lithium batteries;
production lines are compatible and can reuse existing lithium battery manufacturing equipment, with extremely low switching costs.
By April 2026, China’s global market share of power batteries will first surpass 70%,
and CATL’s A+H share total market value will exceed 2 trillion yuan, becoming China’s first technology company with a market value surpassing 2 trillion yuan. (CCTV News)
