Iranian Speaker: Lifting the maritime blockade and a comprehensive ceasefire are the only meaningful steps

Iranian Islamic Parliament Speaker Kalibaf said on social media on the 22nd that a comprehensive ceasefire only makes sense if it is not premised on maritime blockades and the “hijacking” of the world economy, and if Israel halts hostilities on all fronts. Kalibaf also said that if the ceasefire agreement is seriously violated, reopening the Strait of Hormuz would be impossible. On the same day, the Iranian government did not give a direct response to the United States’ proposal to extend the ceasefire with Iran. On the 21st, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a statement on social media saying that he would extend the ceasefire with Iran until Iran submits its plan and relevant consultations are completed. He also instructed the U.S. military to continue imposing a maritime blockade on Iran and to remain on combat readiness. (Xinhua)
