I've noticed that lately, more and more people are interested in the history of the most expensive NFTs. Honestly, when you look at these numbers, your head spins. Let's start with the absolute record held by Pak's Merge — $91.8 million. Interestingly, this isn't just a single NFT, but a whole collection purchased by 28,000 collectors. Each paid about $575, and in the end, this incredible number was achieved.

Second place goes to Beeple with his Everydays: The First 5000 Days. Sold for $69 million at Christie's. The guy drew one picture a day for 5,000 days straight, then compiled everything into one collage. And this most expensive NFT was bought by MetaKovan for 42,000 ETH.

Pak's and Assange's clocks are also in the top, $52.7 million. The timer counts down the days of Assange's imprisonment, updating daily. Assange DAO bought this as a symbol of support.

Next is Human One by Beeple — $29 million. It's a kinetic sculpture, a 16K video that changes depending on the time of day. Living art in the literal sense.

CryptoPunk #5822 — инопланетный панк с синей кожей, один из девяти таких. Продали за 23 миллиона. Вообще CryptoPunks вообще бешеные по ценам. #7523 — another alien punk, but with a mask, $11.75 million. #4156 — an ape, $10.26 million, although 10 months ago it was eight times cheaper.

TPunk #3442 was bought by Justin Sun for $10.5 million. This is a derivative of CryptoPunks on the Tron blockchain. They call it the Joker.

There's also Ringers #109 by Dmitry Chernyak — $6.93 million. This is generative art on Art Blocks, minimalist threads and nails.

XCOPY sold Right-click and Save As Guy for $7 million. The name is funny, hinting that NFTs can supposedly be downloaded with a right-click.

The most expensive collections remain Axie Infinity (total volume of $4.27 billion) and Bored Ape Yacht Club ($3.16 billion). It's interesting to observe how the market is developing. If earlier the most expensive NFT seemed like an incredible rarity, now it's a story everyone knows.

What’s surprising — 95% of NFTs are practically valueless. But those that do have value — really do. The market is volatile, but some works only grow in worth. The artist's reputation, uniqueness, the story behind the work — all of this matters. Pay attention to who creates, not just the price.
