On April 20, 2026, Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, met with Pennsylvania House Speaker McClinton and State Representatives Wexman, Smowood, Burgos, and others during the opening ceremony of the 56th World Trade Center Association Global Business Forum in Philadelphia. The two sides exchanged views on China-U.S. relations, economic and trade cooperation, local exchanges, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Chen Li, Chinese Consul General in New York, and others attended the meeting.

Xie Feng said that Pennsylvania had played a unique role in the course of development of China-U.S. relations, leaving behind many stories that transcend history and friendly memories that both sides should cherish and pass on. China is an important trading partner of Pennsylvania, and economic and trade cooperation with China has brought tangible benefits to the state. A number of Pennsylvania companies, including Kraft Heinz and Pompeit, have been deeply involved in the Chinese market for many years. China has become an important cooperation partner for them to optimize their global production and supply chains and achieve sustainable development.

At present, China is implementing the “15th Five-Year Plan,” and is committed to promoting high-quality development and expanding high-level opening-up. Pennsylvania is actively advancing its “Innovation 2.0 Plan,” and the two sides can fully align and cooperate in areas such as technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and green transformation to achieve a win-win outcome. The Chinese side welcomes more Pennsylvania companies to invest and do business in China, and also hopes that Pennsylvania will provide Chinese enterprises with a fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment. The Chinese side also looks forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Pennsylvania in various areas, including friendship cities, education, and people-to-people exchanges and culture.
