ASEAN Local-Currency Trade Rises 163% to $8.45B Under LCT Framework

ASEAN recorded $8.45 billion in cross-border trade settled in local currencies in the first two months of 2026, up 163% from 2025. The trade was concentrated among Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. ASEAN is also promoting local-currency payments through its Regional Payment Connectivity system, which processed 12.9 million transactions in the first half of 2025.
