OpenAI Enters Critical IPO Phase: Revenue and User Growth Targets Not Met

On April 28, reports indicated that OpenAI recently failed to meet its established targets for new users and revenue, raising concerns among some management about the company’s ability to sustain high expenditures on data center investments. According to insiders, Chief Financial Officer Sarah Frier informed the company’s management that if revenue growth continues to be sluggish, the company may struggle to pay for future computing power procurement contracts. Insiders also noted that in recent months, the board has intensified its scrutiny of the company’s data center partnership projects; against the backdrop of slowing business growth, management has questioned CEO Sam Altman’s continued push to expand computing capacity.
