Hundreds of long-dormant Ethereum addresses have been hacked, reason unknown

ChainCatcher reports that, according to crypto analyst Wazz, hundreds of wallets (many of which have been dormant for over 7 years) have been emptied by the same address on the ETH mainnet.

Aragon team member @TheTakenUser also posted to confirm that funds in their wallet have been transferred without explanation. The initial cause of this incident has not yet been determined; community analysis suggests it was caused by leaks of old mnemonics, private keys, or storage in LastPass from 2017-2020, or previous risky authorizations, rather than a new smart contract vulnerability.
