I’ve been pushing for votes in the group again, and I’ve noticed that while everyone talks about “supporting the technical roadmap,” what they’re really doing is figuring out how the incentives will be distributed and who will be able to obtain signing authority… The more a proposal claims it’s “good for the ecosystem,” the more you need to look at which multi-sig it grants authority to, and which little circle it locks the budget into—in plain terms, it’s just a cosmetic rebrand of a power structure. Over on the mainstream Layer 1 chains, people are all guessing whether they’ll migrate before and after upgrades/maintenance, but I’m more concerned about this: whether or not they migrate isn’t just talk. When it actually comes time to vote, the answers will be clear—who has the votes, how the votes are delegated, and how the incentives are designed. Right now, there’s only one word: wait. Wait for the text to be confirmed so it doesn’t sneak in a change to the terms at the last moment; wait until emotions cool down before impulsively picking a side; wait until I’ve figured it out for myself before clicking “Approve/Reject”… I’ve got social anxiety, but the work that needs to get done still has to be done.
