The French Health Data Center issued a press release on the 23rd, announcing that it will select the French domestic cloud company Skylee to host health insurance reimbursement data and other valuable health data. Previously, the data hosting service for this center was provided by Microsoft in the United States. The press release stated that, given the sensitivity and large scale of the hosted data, the organization requires the data hosting platform to rely on resilient infrastructure and possess a very high level of security. Under the “public cloud” procurement framework, the selection process for the data hosting service provider was quite strict, lasting two and a half months, involving more than 350 technical requirements, and Skylee was ultimately chosen. The director of the French Health Data Center, Ella Gagliardi, said that this data migration aims to maintain a high level of security for all users of the center and will help accelerate the use of French national health data, as well as promote a wider range of scientific research and innovation projects based on health data. Reports from France indicate that there has been a rising call within the country to reduce dependence on American tech giants, and the decision to migrate data in this instance has attracted significant attention.
